Abuse Reporting. An example of efforts to close a site that copied one of our sites
GAMEXCITE.COM copied our site download-game.com and substituted their own ads at this address (remove spaces):- http://g a m e x i t e.com/download_game_free/index.html Steps taken to fix this. 1. Email their ad network. In this case google adsense. Report a policy violation. a) Draft a new email. Use the email address currently associated with your AdSense account (jm@plexos.com) b) Write 'AdSense Policy Violation' as the subject of your message c) Please include all of the following in the body of your message: * The URL of the violating website * A description of the violation * The specific location of the violation, if applicable d) Send this email to adsense-abuse@google.com 2. http://www.betterwhois.com/ lists the whois server and name servers and the domain registrar is godaddy.com 3. Enter whois.godaddy.com in the browser - this gives the contact info. Not sure what to do with that? 4. Find out who is the hosting company. One nameserver is WSC1.JOMAX.NET so enter JOMAX.NET in the browser. It goes to godaddy.com so enter JOMAX.NET into whois.godaddy.com and this confirms it is owned by godaddy.com. You can also try JOMAX.NET in http://www.betterwhois.com/ but in this case returns nothing. So the hosting company is godaddy.com 5. Find the email addresses or contact details for the hosting company. The whois for JOMAX.NET lists dns@jomax.net as a contact email so that is one. The godaddy website has a "report spam" link and that form can be filled out too. 6. Email all the hosting company email addresses likely to be relevant the with an abuse report. In this case I added abuse@godaddy.com as well assuming it was a valid address. I didn't email the copied site owners. You can use the same sort of format as in point 1 above if there are no better instructions. whois.godaddy.com results ------------------------- Registrant: Andrey Serba Murmanskaya 1, 134 Dnepropetrovsk 49098 Ukraine Registered through: GoDaddy.com (http://www.godaddy.com) Domain Name: GAMEXCITE.COM Created on: 29-Jan-03 Expires on: 29-Jan-06 Last Updated on: 07-Apr-05 Administrative Contact: Musinov, Alexey services@gamexcite.com Murmanskaya 1, 134 Dnepropetrovsk 49098 Ukraine 380679703072 Fax -- 380562202324 Technical Contact: Musinov, Alexey services@gamexcite.com Murmanskaya 1, 134 Dnepropetrovsk 49098 Ukraine 679703072 Fax -- 562202324 Domain servers in listed order: WSC1.JOMAX.NET WSC2.JOMAX.NET Registry Status: REGISTRAR-LOCK
