Doing backups of folders and subfolders, also websites. Backups to the server --------------------- 1. Go in Plexel to the particular SITE NOTES index.html page, for example file:///C:/Websites/Limoz/index.html. 2. Click Paste + Zip up website and follow the prompts. 3. You should see a black window appear and disappear with all the files being zipped listed rapidly. 4. It should create a site.zip file in the SITE folder, for example file:///C:/Websites/Limoz/Limoz.Com/site.zip 5. Click "Return to Display page" then go to the site folder and click Paste + Upload site.zip or use an ftp program. 6. Do Paste + "Delete site.zip" once it is uploaded to the server. The password is removed from the site notes index.html page if it is the same as the one in the Ftp_Login.htm file. If by chance the site notes folder is not called the same as the site folder minus the .Com bit, then Plexel will give a message, and the site notes folder will need renaming. The backup can then be downloaded to a PC from the server, e.g. http://Limoz.Com/site.zip. The files are zipped up with their full directory information so site.zip can be easily unzipped after downloading if required. Backups should normally remain stored as the zip file. However, this version of site.zip should NEVER be unzipped on the server. Quick Backups for your own use ------------------------------- It maybe a good idea to do a backup of your website when using the Utility menu with a Scope of Throughout Folder or Folder and Subfolders. Especially if you are replacing text globally. The quickest way to do this is to go to any page in your website and do Paste + Zip up folder & sub's. This will create a zip file in your C:/zipfiles directory. To put back the files you just need to go to any page in the same website and do Paste + UnZip to folder & sub's and it will automatically find the right zipfile and unzip it.
