External Links. Links to other sites

LINKS TO OTHER SITES, EXTERNAL LINKS. ------------------------------------- It would be a good idea to ask appropriate external link sites to put a link back to us from their site. However, this is not a requirement. The external links needs verifying every month or so to see if they still work. Plexel has a feature Utility+List external links to help with this. Links to external sites will usually go in col3 below the links to other pages in the site. I would only add external links if they have better info than we have or something extra. Two links are the current minimum. If you find a lot then normally use the top four or five. Take the 'Kittens' page for example. There is already an automatic way of putting in an external link. First copy the external page location to clipboard by one of several methods:- 1. Right click on a link to it and 'copy link location' or In IE you would use Properites + highlight the URL + CTRL+C as for images 2. If the external page you want to link to is shown in your second browser window just highlight the url (address) in the address box and CTRL+C. Basically we need the URL in the clipboard first. Having got the url in the clipboard go back to the Plexel Display page and click 'Link' + 'Link Kittens to target'. Plexel will first get the external page title and prompt you if you want to use that as a description. You can overwrite it or add to it or just leave it, depending on whether it is a good title or not. I am going to improve the external links feature of Plexel too. Feel free to make suggestions or add to the HTML manually by editing col3. EXTERNAL LINKS -------------- I wouldn't put domain names as the blue text in the external links because this is already done automatically in the green text at the end of the link. So for example on 'Single Man Goalie Foosball Tables' you have:- Staramusement.com - Get the Deluxe Home Foosball table from here (Near the Bottom of there page). There most Economical Single Man Goalie Foosball Tables. www.staramusement.com Kmart.com - Carrom Burr Oak Foosball Table. www.bluelight.com AmericanSuperSports.com - Garlando Roma Foosball Soccer Table. www.americansupersports.com Better to have:- Star Amusement - Get the Deluxe Home Foosball table from here (Near the Bottom of there page). There most Economical Single Man Goalie Foosball Tables. www.staramusement.com Kmart - Carrom Burr Oak Foosball Table. www.bluelight.com American Super Sports - Garlando Roma Foosball Soccer Table. www.americansupersports.com NEW FORMAT FOR EXTERNAL LINKS ----------------------------- I have improved the Plexel Link form so you can now make external links more automatically. To do this first Copy the link location to clipboard, of the external page you want to link to. You can get that using CTRL+C to the address box of Internet Explorer when the external page is showing. Alternatively you can also right click on a link to the external page, click Properties, then highlight the Address text and do CTRL+C, just like for images. Having got the address in clipboard if for example the Display page is 'Kittens' then use Plexel' Link Kittens to target' and fill in the boxes that come up. The first box will be the blue link text, and the second will be comments. POSITIONING OF EXTERNAL LINKS ----------------------------- I looked at your page 'Foosball Table Covers' on tablefootball.com. A thought occured to me, the system of external links in the top of column3 may not be good enough. For example it is not clear for which of the 5 covers that the 2 external links are for. So if you were looking for say the 'tear resistant' cover you wouldn't know which link to click. Maybe we should start putting the external links right below the thing they apply to, as well as at the top of column 3. In fact you may have to search out more external links so as to do all the 5 cover types.
