Mini-Pictures. Choosing which picture is used and implementing it
SEE BOX AT BOTTOM OF PAGE
I have got the 'Link + Choose Spread Picture' feature working. This means you can choose the picture (or not have one) that Plexel uses for spreading, i.e. in Utility + Spread Summary. This creates mini-pictures at the front of the links and looks quite effective in many cases. The default is to use the col2 top picture of the page. You can change this with 'Link + Choose Spread Picture'. It does however increase page download times and server load so it is best to use pictures of a small file size if possible. I suggest 10k max. A future better solution would be to use real separate thumbnail images rather than the original image. Such thumbnails could be of a very tiny file size and would look the same. The only problem is actaully making them which is time consuming and requires training. Maybe it will be possible to automate it. I am fairly sure there are programs that could do it for us. If anyone knows one please let me know. Unfortunately I have not made it so that creating a new page automatically puts in the mini-picture nor in some cases of linking pages will Plexel update the mini-pictures. The only way to be certain is to use Utility + Spread Summary. Especially after you make any changes with Link + Choose Spread Picture. Hopefully this can be improved later.
